Big V Round 7 Recap

A quarter of the way through the season with some mixed results coming through from the weekend. Check out how the teams went below!

JAYCO DIVISION 1 MEN

A shaky third quarter saw our Division 1 Men lock in and come away with an 8 point win against a determined Shepperton Gators team. The 87-79 win sees out men take their 7th win in a row to firmly secure them 2nd on the ladder only behind the undefeated Keysborough Cougars. Michael Rebula once again led the men with 17/9/5 and was backed up by Cohen Blythe who recorded 14/6/7 to go along with 5 steals. For the Gators Matthew Barlett and Sam Beks both contributed 18 each.

The men now have a big double header coming up where they will face cross town rivals Bellarine in Bellarine Saturday night before returning to The Arena on Sunday to face the Bulleen Boomers. Make sure you get down to support the team!

JAYCO DIVISON 2 WOMEN

A tough shooting night has seen our Division 2 women fall to The Altona Gators 59-49. Managing just 19-70 from the field our Women struggled down the stretch to cut into the Altona lead. For the Rays, Abby Loughhead and Shayna Poto both had 13 with Meg Hanna supporting them with 11 of her own. For the Gators Jaylen-Rose Hawea impressed with 21/7/3 to go with 6 steals.

The Women will travel to Coburg next week to take on the Giants.

RAY WHITE YOUTH LEAGUE 1 MEN

A rough final quarter has seen our Men fall to the Bendigo Braves 92-81 in a high shooting affair. The boys were led by Jay Posterino who had 24 points and was back up by Hamish Goodier who had 20/10/7 nearly notching a triple double.

On Sunday again the boys fell to a well drilled and hot shooting Sherbrooke outfit. Hamish Goodier flirted with a triple double again registering 21/10/7. Jay Posterino and Jack Terrill also came to play with 17 and 15/8 respectively. For Sherbrooke Bailey Ross dropped 30 with 6 threes to put away our men.

The team will now look forward to face Hume in Broadmeadows on Sunday.

RAY WHITE YOUTH LEAGUE 1 WOMEN

A massive 4th quarter holding Eltham to just 2 points has seen our Youth Women come away 22 point winners! Tanielle Knight racked up 19 points 18 rebounds to lead our girls to a big win on the road.

The Women will now look ahead and try to make it two in a row as they take on Casey at The Arena on Sunday.
