A mixed bag of results for our Big V teams this weekend, check our how our teams went below!
Jayco division 1 men
Our Jayco Division 1 Men Stingrays had a dominant win against Melbourne Uni on Saturday night 108-41 at the Geelong Arena. A great defensive night from the team held Melbourne Uni to a lowly 41 points over the 40 minutes, allowing only 15 made field goals for the duration of the game. For the Rays, minutes were spread evenly and points were aplenty. Max Kos led the way with 24 points and 7 assists while Dane Bow dropped 6 threes on is way to 22 points in just 18 minutes. For Melbourne Joshua McNally was the only double digit scorer with 10.
The men get ready for a double header against Coburg and and Collingwood for this weekend.
Jayco division 2 women
Our division 2 Women had a bye this week, they prepare for this weekend where they will take on the Collingwood Allstars on Sunday.
Ray white youth league 1 men
A tough Saturday night saw our YL1M go down by just 3 points in a tightly contested game against Hume City. For GUB Jack Moran led the way with 21 points and 8 rebounds while Hamish Goodier flirted with a Triple double registering 19-12-8 to go with 3 steals.
On Sunday Frankston were too much to handle with the boys falling 69-108. A tough shooting night for United saw only 30% of their shots fall compared to 48% for Frankston. Hamish Goodier once again led with 18-8-4. For Frankston, Brayden Laurieβs 20 steadied the scoring for the Blues.
Ray white youth league 1 women
A tough game in Frankston on Sunday saw our women fall by 11, 69-80. A 23 and 13 point performance from Tanielle Knight led the way for GU but it was not enough to overcome the gritty defence of the Frankston Blues. For the Blues Annabel Fitter dropped 26 and 16 rebounds to lead the team to the win.
The women will take on Eltham in Geelong on Saturday night at 6pm.
