Colac Bulla Classic Wrap-up

It was a busy weekend for our under 16 and 18 boys teams who headed down the highway to Colac for the Bulla Classic. It was an exciting weekend that saw much success for our teams with our under 16 boys 4 taking home the Division 2 title! Check out how each of our teams did below!

Under 16 Boys 2

Taking on Division 1 at Colac our under 16 boys fell just short in the Grand Final, going down to Terang 39-33. While it was not the perfect ending, the boys did well, knocking off Portland and Warrnambool on their way to the final.

Under 16 Boys 3

The under 16 boys rolled their way through to the Grand Final of Division 2 this weekend. Beating Horsham, Surfcoast, and Portland before facing off with our Under 16 Boys 4. In a minor upset, the 16 Boys 4 pulled off a 6 point win to claim a spot in the championship game.

Under 16 Boys 4

Playing a huge 7 games in 2 days didn’t stop our under 16 Boys this weekend. Recording 6 wins and 1 draw the boys dominated the competition and set up a semi-final with our 16 Boys 3. a close game saw them come away 6 points winners. This sent the boys to the Grand-Final to face Maryborough, the team went on to defeat them and claim the Championship. Congratulations to the boys on a great weekend!

Under 16 Boys 5

Some tightly contested games for our 16 Boys 5 this weekend, unfortunately, saw them go down to our 16 Boys 4, ending their weekend early. While the result wasn’t what the team wanted, a great win over Portland and some close games with Bellarine and Warrnambool still made for a successful weekend of learning.

Under 16 Boys 8

Our final under 16 team to take to Colac this weekend, our 16 Boys 8 put up a great fight against some tough competition. A nailbiter against Surfcoast unfortunately saw the boys get pipped at the post by just 1 point. Again, while the results weren’t perfect, the team still showed great resilience and gained great learning experiences for their VJBL season.

Under 18 Girls 2

Our only girls team to attend this weekend at Colac came out and battled hard against some fierce competition. A one point loss to Bellarine and a draw to Maryborough meant day 1 couldn’t get much closer! After a tough loss to Colac, the Girls bounced back to finish on a high note defeating Bellarine is a rematch 28-21. Congratulations girls on a great effort!

Under 18 Boys 3

Taking on some tough competition in Division 1 of the tournament, our 18 Boys 3 lost some tough games against Surfcoast and the home team Colac. The results of the weekend weren’t what the team was after, however, some great learning and takeaways will have them in good stead for the rest of the VJBL season.

Under 18 Boys 6

Our under 18 boys 6 were the last team to take the court at the Colac tournament this weekend. There was some tough competition in Division 2 which translated into hard-fought games every round for our boys. The results didn’t fall in their favour but the lessons of the tournament will definitely help them in the quest for a VJBL title this year.

Congratulations to all teams on a great weekend of Basketball, check back in next week as we wrap-up the 12 and 14s tournament!
