With no home game this week, our HoopCity NBL1 teams hit the road to take on the Diamond Valley Eagles, with both teams looking to maintain their top 4 spots on the ladder.
HOOPCITY NBL1 WOMEN
Missing head coach Matthew Paton didn’t stop our Women from tearing up the Eagles for four quarters on Sunday afternoon. Opening up the game with a 10-point lead heading into the quarter-time break, the tone was set early as the Women continued to outscore the Eagles for the remainder of the game. A 20-point lead at halftime was too much for Diamond Valley as our Women pushed to an 8-2 record to sit 4th on the NBL1 Ladder.
An even scoring load saw 5 players hit double digits, while Sara Blicavs and Taylah Simmons both posted double doubles to help the team dominate the rebound count 49-38. The aggressive offence of Geelong also helped greatly as they headed to the charity stripe more times than the Eagles.
The Women will look to Saturday night’s clash against the Launceston Tornadoes who currently sit 1 spot below them on the NBL1 South ladder. Make sure to grab your tickets, to what is going to be a must see matchup! Tickets are available here.

HOOPCITY NBL1 MEN
A hot shooting night has seen our NBL1 men get back on track to claim their 7th win of the season and maintain their top 4 spot on the NBL1 ladder. A 20-point victory came through 4 quarters of brilliant basketball by the Supercats as they were able to maintain and extend their lead at each major break. Building a 10-point lead at halftime, the Men looked in control throughout as they were able to finish off the Eagles 93-73 at Diamond Valley.
With all 4 starters reaching double figures while again dominating the rebound count 44-34 it was a beautiful game to watch. Recording 23 assists as a team to DVs 11, showed that ball movement is king as the Supercats breezed their way to the important win. Jack White was once again impressive logging 18 points and 15 rebounds to go with 4 assists, while Gabe Hadley lit up the scoreboard for a game-high 24 points to go with 8 rebounds of his own. With the team connecting on 14 threes at a 50% rate, the Eagles were left to lament their outside defence as the main factor in their loss.
The Men will return to their homecourt this Saturday night when they take on the NW Tasmanian Thunder at the Geelong Arena. Tickets are available but selling fast so make sure you grab yours here.
