Big V Round 17 Recap

With just 1 round to go of the Big V 2022 Regular season, there is still a lot to play for as finals approach. Check out how both our senior Big V teams went down below!

NAVEXA DIVISION 1 MEN

Our Big V Men have solidified their spot in the Big V Finals fixture with an impressive win over the Bulleen Boomers. Starting off hot the team jumped out to a quick 8-point advantage leading 23-15 at the quarter-time break. The Boomers fought back however as they regained some momentum to tie the game up at 39 apiece heading into the half.

The Rays kicked into gear once again as they held the Boomers to a 7-point quarter grabbing a 5-point advantage. In the final 10, the flood gates finally opened as the Rays connected on shot after shot, stifling the Bulleen offence to run away 17-point winners, allowing just 21 second-half points.

The team will now look to a very important game on Saturday night as they look to secure a home final against the very opponent they will match up with, the Bellarine Storm. Collecting a win will see them cruise into Sunday’s game against the Coburg Giants as they look to continue their momentum into the playoffs.

Make sure to get down and support the team as they make the final push before the quest for a Championship begins!

NAVEXA DIVISION 2 WOMEN

Our Division 2 Women have collected a quality win in their second last game of the season, knocking off finals-bound Wallan 74-64. A tight contest throughout, neither team led by more than 3 at any of the main breaks heading into the final 10 minutes. With some impressive shooting numbers from the starters along with a dominant 16-point advantage on the rebounds, the team ensured that Wallan wasn’t able to grab the win, outscoring them by 8 in the final term to collect the impressive double-digit win.

Sitting at 8-9 on the season, the team unfortunately will be unable to crack into the finals in 2022. The team will face the red-hot Redbacks in the final game of their season as they look to knock off another top 4 opponents. Make sure to get down on Saturday as they head into their final game.
