CHAMPIONSHIP WOMEN
PIVOT CITY 89 – CC EAGLES 37
In the only game of the round for Champ Women, Pivot City have run away with a big 52-point win over the Eagles. Leading 43-19 at the half, Pivot was in cruise control as Eve Braslis took it upon herself to outscore the Eagles, with 44 of her own. For Christian College, it was Phoebe Calvert with 13.
CHAMPIONSHIP MEN
PIVOT CITY 82 – YMCA 74
Pivot City have maintained their spot in the top 4 with a solid win over YMCA. A close battle through the first 20 minutes saw the Y take a 2-point lead before some lockdown defence turned the tide for Pivot, with a 26-13 quarter. With 10 to play and an 11-point lead, Pivot was able to hold on for the 8-point win. Max Kos and Jordan O’Leary both top scored with 19, while Patrick Johnstone’s 18 was best for Y.
SHARKS 66 – SG KINGS 58
Sharks have picked up their first win of the season after a 28-point performance from Lachie Wilson propelled them to an 8-point win over the Kings in round 14. Leading by 4 at the half and extending the lead to 8 with 10 to go, the Kings weren’t able to lead a comeback as the Sharks pounced on the opportunity to get in the Winners column. Rody Spoormakers was best on for the Kings with 18.
WILDCATS 72 – SURFCOASTERS 60
The Wildcats remain on top of the ladder for the 14th straight week as they collected a grind-out win over the Surfcoasters. A close first half saw the lead flip-flop before the Wildcats were able to break away for a 5-point advantage. Extending to 8 in the third and 12 to finish the game off, it was DeMarcus Gatlin with 24 who led the way for the Cats. Jack Moran’s 29 was best for the Coasters.
TRY Bos 114 – LARA 73
Try Boys put the hurt on Lara in round 14 as they pounced on the Giants to grab a 41-point win. A close first quarter was overshadowed by an explosive scoring run from the Bears who jumped out to a 19-point halftime lead, pushing the score up in the second half on their way to the big win. For the Bears, it was Darcy Stiles and Matthew Johns both with 30, with Stiles connecting on 8 threes. Jackson Bentley was best for the Giants with 35 of his own.
CC EAGLES 51 – ROVERS 44
Christian College has maintained the second spot on the ladder after a low-scoring affair with Rovers in round 14. With both teams struggling to score through the first half, it was the Eagles who held the 2-point advantage. A tough night from the field for both teams saw the Eagles able to break away first and set themselves up for the 7-point win. Liam McInerney was best with 16 while Brodie Hynam had 15 for Rovers.
