The final round of the Winter Championship is done and dusted, with finals spots locked in, check out how your clubs’ team went in the final round of 2022!

CHAMPIONSHIP WOMEN

SHARKS 71 – 59 SURFCOASTERS

Sharks have completed their perfect season with a 12-point win over Surfcoast in round 18. Coming out of the gate strong, the Surfcoasters took it to the Sharks for the entire first half, trailing by just 1 at the main break. Outscoring their opponent by 10 in the third, Georgia Varley’s game-high 32 was too much in the end for the Coasters, who went down 71-59. Annie Poon was great for the Coasters putting up 24 points including 5 threes.

CC EAGLES 45 – 39 WILDCATS

CC Eagles have secured an important win in the final round of the season to secure the third spot on the ladder, as they get one up on their finals week 1 opponent in the Wildcats. A low-scoring affair, the 6-point lead that the Eagles secured at the end of the half was maintained through the final 20 minutes allowing them to run away with the win. Kiara Foster led the way for the Wildcats with 10, while Candice Bryt and Coco Sammut both poured in 9 for the Eagles.

PIVOT CITY 79 – 28 TRY BOYS

Pivot City have claimed another great win in round 18 as they look to carry their form into round 1 of the finals where they will look to knock off Sharks for a spot in the grand final. With only 5 available players it was Viktoria Crump who led the way with 25, while Vanessa Marsh helped out well with her 21. For the Bears, it was Shania Soutar with 11 to round out their 2022 season.

CHAMPIONSHIP MEN

CC EAGLES 85 – 77 YMCA

CC Eagles have taken an impressive win over fourth-placed YMCA in round 18 and will look to carry that form into their matchup with the Wildcats in round 1 of finals. A 4-point lead at halftime jumped to 13 with 10 to play as Marc Goodwin turned on the jets on his way to a game-high 25 points. While YMCA was able to connect on 11 threes to the Eagles 3 for the game, it was not enough as they went down by 8. Jack Terrill led the way for Y with 20.

TRY BOYS 100 – 77 SURFCOASTERS

Try Boys have taken a 23-point win in their final game of the season, downing the young Surfcoasters team that will for sure be in the hunt for a finals campaign in 2023. Jumping out to a 15-point lead through the first 10 minutes, the Bears didn’t look back as they connected on 15 triples for the game to claim the big win. Seb Thomason was great with 29, while Darcy Stiles and Matt Johns both contributed 19. For the Coasters it was Vincent Whelan with 15 to lead the team.

KINGS 92 – 69 VYTIS

SG Kings have ended their season also with a 23-point win as they took down the short-handed Vytis Knights. With all 8 players taking to the score sheet, the well-rounded offence of the Kings was to much for the Knights as they dominated in the paint. Chris Eichler was on fire hitting 5 threes on his way to 21 points, while Kevin Brandariz led the Knights and the game in scoring with 25.

WILDCATS 71 – 56 PIVOT CITY

In another potential grand final matchup, the Wildcats took care of business against Pivot City in a low-scoring affair where both teams struggled to score in patches. Grabbing a 9-point lead at halftime, the Cats were able to steady the ship through the last quarter to pull away 15-point winners. Nick Owusu and DeMarcus Gatlin led the way with 21 each, while Max Kos and Jordan O’Leary both put up 16 of their own.

That wraps up the final regular season round of the 2022 Winter Championship. With three big weeks of finals set to hit the courts, make sure to tune in later in the week for a full finals preview and our predictions of how finals will play out!
