Geelong United Basketball is excited to announce the signing of our Youth league Coaches for the 2023 season!
Luke Beard, former assistant coach of the Youth League Men’s team in 2022, will step up to the head coaching role in 2023. While former D2W coach Jase Bannerman will return to the program to lead the Youth League Women for 2023.
The association is incredibly proud to have two high calibre coaches who are committed to the development of local talent in the Geelong region on board for 2023, and look forward to seeing what they are able to accomplish with the talented group of athletes looking to line up in the GU uniform next year.
Coach Beard is ‘looking forward to using the foundations set last year to keep the team progressing back to a competitive finals outfit.’ Something the program hasn’t seen since the Basketball Geelong and Corio Bay came together.
‘For me, it is truly an honour to be appointed to help develop the next generation of GU athletes. I feel very privileged to be given the opportunity.’ Said Beard.
As for coach Bannerman, he is ‘Really keen to see how we can all work together and create that work ethic that builds great teams.’
While also stating that ‘Geelong United is an organisation that has been fantastic to be a part of the last 18 months. It is very inclusive, they want everyone to become better and are constantly trying to keep everyone up to date and informed.’
He (Bannerman) ‘couldn’t ask to be a part of a better association’ and we as an association are very proud to be able to call both Luke and Jason our 2023 Youth League coaches!
