Hoop City Geelong United Supercats men’s captain DeMarcus Gatlin has urged players at all levels to respect the game’s decision-makers after accepting a suspension for an incident following the Round 1 loss to Kilsyth.
Gatlin will miss tomorrow night’s home opener against Bendigo and next week’s home-road double against Sandringham and Casey after being offered a three-game ban over comments he made towards a referee after the defeat by the Cobras.
“After that Kilsyth game, I got little emotional and said something to the referee that landed me in a bit of trouble,” Gatlin told Supercats Chat on K rock 95.5.
“I just want use this as a platform to tell everybody – players that are playing at any level – make sure you’re respecting the game; respect the officials. Use me as an example.
“They have a tough job to do.
“Whether you feel like you’re right… just lay off the officials and play the game.”
