A semi-final appearance from the boys team has highlighted Geelong United’s appearance at the Under 14 Junior Country Championships in Ballarat.
The Troy Parker-coached side swept all before them in the pool games on Saturday before splitting their Sunday matches, with a loss to Sale and a win over Ballarat.
That earned the boys a semi-final berth against Warrnambool.
United’s hopes of a grand final spot were dashed by a 21-6 burst by the Seahawks in the second quarter on their way to a 62-24 victory.
Frank Morrissy’s girls team started solidly with two wins in their pool games on Saturday.
However, three losses on Sunday to Bendigo, Traralgon and Horsham consigned them to the 9th vs. 10th classification game against Hamilton.
United was unable to match the Hurricanes consistent scoring, suffering a 50-29 loss.
All eyes now turn to Bendigo for this weekend’s Under 12 Junior Country Championships.
