Pivot City remains the only unbeaten team after three rounds of Geelong United Basketball’s 2023 Men’s Championship season after ending the unbeaten start of Lara Giants.
For the second time in three outings, Pivot topped the ton on its way to a 109-84 victory at AWA Alliance Bank Stadium.
Max Kos and Ethan Blythe dropped seven three-pointers on their way to 35 and 33 points, respectively.
Jordan O’Leary (17 points) and Tyler Erard (16 points) were also solid contributors as Pivot outscored the Giants in every quarter.
Lara was best served by 24 points from Joel McFall, with Jackson Bentley (21 points) and Seth Garcia (17) also prolific.
Scott McCarthy was the standout as Sharks overcame a slow start to beat Tigers 91-77 at AWA.
McCarthy poured in 38 points, including six three-pointers, in an impressive display.
Lachie Wilson was also solid with 19 points, while Malik Davis made a debut to remember as he contributed 18 points to the Sharks’ cause.
Riley Pendergast was a constant threat for Tigers scoring 28 points, while Oscar Leavold finished with 15 points.
YMCA became the fourth team with a 2-1 win-loss record after using a dominant third quarter to defeat South Geelong Kings at Geelong Arena.
Leading 45-41 at half-time, Y dropped 31 points on the Kings in the third period to open up a match-winning 17-point lead.
Classy guard Liam Herbert led a trio of Y players who reached 20 points, finishing with 23.
David Overgaauw contributed 21 points, and veteran Nathan Herbert had 20.
Will Macpherson (24 points) and Kyle Meyer (18) kept the Kings competitive.

An even team performance was enough for Try Boys to overcome Vytis at AWA
Four players scored in double figures as the Bears came out on top 84-76.
Nathan Gronbeck’s 21 points were best for Try Boys, with Aaron Prendergast tallying 19.
Dane Hollenkamp (21 points) and evergreen Romas Liebich (19) ensured the Knights kept the Bears honest all night.
Wildcats also joined the 2-1 club after seeing off Christian College Eagles 69-57 at AWA.
Guard great Nick Owusu piled on 27 points, while DeMarcus Gatlin had 14 to guide Wildcats to victory.
Big man Liam McInerney was the standout for the Eagles with 29 points.
