Matchups with first and third on the ladder will provide the Navexa Geelong United Youth League Men with a further indication of where they stand in the Big V Youth League 1 pecking order this weekend.
Coming off a disappointing loss to Keysborough in Round 6, Luke Beard’s roster heads to third-placed Camberwell on Saturday night before rounding out their weekend at ladder-leading Hume City on Sunday.
United will be boosted by the return of captain Seth Garcia and talented forward Marach Marach from NBL1 duties.
“We’re looking forward to testing ourselves against the competition’s best and seeing how we measure up,” Beard said.
“We will be focussing on our defensive pressure and ensuring that our shot selection is giving up good for better.”
The Navexa Geelong United Youth League Women travels to Sunbury on Saturday night for a second meeting with the Jets in three rounds.
When they went head-to-head on April 23, United came out on top 73-67 in a performance that has coach Jason Bannerman confident of claiming a fourth win of the season and staying in touch with the top six.
“After playing them a fortnight ago and playing a great defensive game, we will be able to settle into our offensive sets, limit our turnovers and convert our chances,” Bannerman said.
