Men’s Championship Wrap | Round 6

Veteran guard Romas Liebich has spearheaded Vytis to its first win of the Geelong United Basketball Winter Championship men’s season following a 27-point performance in Round 6 action on Tuesday night.

In combination with fellow experienced campaigners Steve Wiasak (20 points), James Osborne (17) and Michael Rebula (15), Liebich ensured the Knights outlasted Tigers 84-77.

Riley Pendergast did all he could to get Tigers their first win of the season. He poured in 24 points, including five makes from beyond the three-point arc.

Max Kos has exploded for a season-high 48 points as Pivot City proved too strong for South Geelong Kings at AWA.

The competition’s leading scorer knocked down nine three-pointers in a stunning individual display that saw the undefeated Pivot run out 115-88 winners.

Jason Reardon (19 points), Tyler Erard (18) and Max Zalakos (17) provided handy support for Kos.

Will McPherson was the standout for the Kings with 32 points.

Tom McCormick was next best with 13.

Lara Giants climbed to fourth on the ladder after overcoming Sharks 79-68 at AWA.

Jackson Bentley (26 points) and Joel McFall (25) again impressed for the Giants.

Scott McCarthy was impressive for Sharks with 21 points, while Lachie Wilson contributed 17.
