Time to go Dry

Geelong United NBL1 players, coaches, board members, and staff have signed up to help raise funds for Barwon Health’s Andrew Love Cancer Centre.

In all, 12 people are part of the Geelong United Basketball team going alcohol-free for July.

Hoop City Geelong United men’s coach Grant Wallace and players DeMarcus Gatlin, Cohen Blythe and Jay Posterino, women’s coach Matthew Paton and star duo Eve Braslis and Chantel Horvat are on board.

Board members Mike Deam and Georgia McLean, CEO Mark Neeld, Sponsorship & Marketing Manager Connie Bolger, and VJBL female teams coordinator Abby Loughhead have also signed up.

A target of $30,000 has been set for Geelong United Basketball, with each participant hoping to raise $1000 as part of Billy’s Frothy Fund.

Spearheaded by former Geelong AFL star Billy Brownless, it has been the top fundraising group in Australia for the past two years.

The Barwon Health Foundation is one of three community partners of Geelong United Basketball, along with Lifeline Geelong & South West Victoria and Read the Play.
