Coach Grant Wallace has hailed the performance of George Blagojevic as the Hoop City Geelong United Supercats squared both its Round 11 and season ledgers with a win over fellow finals aspirants Eltham at Geelong Arena on Sunday.
Blagojevic was the clear difference between the two teams, pouring in 30 points, to go with ten rebounds, six steals, three assists and a blocked shot in a 96-81 victory over the Wildcats.
“If he doesn’t get Player of the Week, there is something wrong with that,” Wallace said.
After falling to Mt Gambier on the road on Friday night, 100-90, the Supercats’ record went below .500.
However, a 29-14 final term on Sunday ensured an eighth win of the season and kept Wallace’s men in touch with the top eight.
“It was a grind, and we always knew it was going to be,” Wallace said. “These double (header) weekends are tough, but I felt we found a way.
“We played fairly well for about 30 minutes in Mt Gambier.
“Today, we found a way to get those stops.”
