Hoop City Geelong United Supercats women’s coach Matthew Paton has urged local basketball fans to turn out “en masse” for this week’s NBL1 South preliminary final against Waverley.
The Supercats will face the Falcons at Geelong Arena on Saturday night for a spot in their second grand final in four seasons against either Bendigo or Mt Gambier.
Coach Paton has told theΒ Times News GroupΒ he hopes to see the venue at capacity to act as an essential sixth woman.
“I’d like to throw the challenge out to Geelong that we sell out Geelong Arena next weekend.
“I think it’s fantastic what the program has achieved so far, the players understand it’s a process that is not finished yet, but we know we’ll have to be in top form against whoever we face to get into the grand final.
“We can’t wait to be in front of, hopefully, a full house of fans of basketball, women’s basketball more specifically, en masse at Geelong Arena.”
