George Blagojevic’s birthday is not only a celebration for him but also for Geelong United, with the star big man signing with the club for the 2024 NBL1 season.
Blagojevic, who turns 27 today (October 18), is the third commit to Grant Wallace’s roster, joining captain DeMarcus Gatlin and experienced forward Owen Odigie.
In 2023, the former Cairns NBL player and Australian underage representative averaged 22.5 points on 48 per cent shooting, a team-high 12 rebounds, and 2.6 assists while averaging a tick under 35 minutes per game.
He posted a double-double in 13 of his 19 games in a strong return from a serious knee injury that prematurely ended his 2022 season.
“We see George as a key part of our push to return to finals action in 2024,” Geelong United Basketball’s General Manager of Pathways, Megan Moody, said.
“For someone coming off the injury he suffered, George had a really strong 2023 season.
“We’re looking forward to seeing him take his game to another level next year.”
Blagojevic is spending the Australian summer in the Serbian league with Dynamic VP.
After the opening three matches of the season, he is averaging 9.7 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.7 assists.
