Please be advised that Basketball Victoria/Australia have made changes to fee’s for 2024.
Key Points are as follows:
Basketball Australia Game Development Levy
- From January 1, 2024, an annual Basketball Australia Game Development levy of $5.00 + GST ($5.50) per competition player will be introduced nationwide. The levy will be collected by Basketball Australia and the revenue generated by the levy will be allocated to projects designed to benefit community basketball.
- This levy will be applicable to all players participating in regular season competitions, excluding coaches, officials, volunteers, and administrators (unless they are also registered as basketball players). For clarity, the levy will be payable by those who are required to hold a Basketball Victoria Licence and will operate in the same manner as the Basketball Victoria Licence and be payable annually via PlayHQ.
- Basketball Victoria negotiated strongly to ensure that only those players required to hold a Basketball Victoria Licence were required to pay the Basketball Australia levy and participants taking part in Beginner Programs, Skill Programs and Holiday Camps were not charged the levy, as originally proposed by Basketball Australia. In agreeing to the levy, Basketball Victoria ensured that the Basketball Australia levy could not be increased for at least the first 3 years after which time Basketball Australia will be assessed on their delivery of the agreed projects and if not satisfactory the States and Territories could exit the agreement and end the levy.
- Note: the $5 (plus GST) Basketball Australia levy will be paid when a player next registers to a competition season (for existing players this may or may not coincide with the Basketball Victoria licence depending on anniversary dates).

Basketball Victoria Participations Licence Fees
- At the 2022 Basketball Victoria State Conference – a $3 increase to the annual Basketball Victoria Participant Licence was approved by Association members to go from $29 (per player 17 and under) to $32, and from $43 (per player 18 and up) to $46 in 2024.
- The decision has been made to freeze the 2023 licence fee to allow for the Basketball Australia fee to be introduced and minimise the initial financial burden for participants. Therefore, the Basketball Victoria Participant licence will remain at $29 and $43 respectively in 2024
