Jamie Petty Is United: New Geelong United NBL1 Women’s Head Coach

Geelong United is excited to announce Jamie Petty as our new NBL1 Women’s Head Coach.

Jamie brings a comprehensive level of experience to the role, most recently working as Basketball Queensland’s State Performance Coach, as well as head coach of the Northside Wizards men’s squad in the NBL1’s North conference. Coach Petty also spent close to eight years working in the SA Country Basketball system, as well as a stint with the NBL’s Adelaide 36’ers as Player Development Coach.

Taking the helm of a growing women’s roster, Jamie will guide the likes of Sarah Elsworthy, Eve Braslis, Kobe Tehau King-Hawea and more exciting names to be announced this week, as they hope to go one step further than their 2023 campaign which saw them fall one game short of a spot in the South Conference Grand Final.

Speaking on his his new role, Jamie is ready to make an impact during the upcoming season: “I’m really excited to be joining Geelong United. This program is renowned across the country for high levels of success, and the Geelong basketball community has a reputation for unrivalled support and investment in their teams. To be given the opportunity to lead this program is an honour, and I look forward to doing my bit to ensure its continued success.”

Signed to a 3 year deal, Coach Petty looks to continue growing the local profile of women’s basketball, as participation numbers and support boom across the region.
