Geelong United Basketball (GUB) is proud to welcome Simon Nicholson as our new Coach & Athlete Development Manager.
Simon joins us after most recently spending two years in Sunbury as their Basketball Development Officer, as well as the Head Coach of the Sunbury Big V Womenβs squad in 2023. He has also spent the last 8 years as Basketball Victoria Country High performance path coach, and is the Current U16 Victoria Country Girls State team Assistant coach.
And with Geelong United making its way into the WNBL this coming November, GUB will be leaning on Simon’s expertise after spending the last two seasons as a WNBL Development Coach with the Bendigo Spirit.
The Coach & Athlete Development Manager role is a new position created at GUB, designed to oversee all components of Geelong United Basketballβs VJBL Pathwayβs Program. Simon will lead the design, implementation and review of our program, while promoting a positive image for Geelong United Basketball through his professional delivery of service.
Speaking on this new role, Simon is eager to get involved and make our Pathway Program the best it can be for everyone involved – “I can’t wait to help all our Pathway Coaches and Athletes achieve their dreams and help create the best Basketball Pathway program possible. It’s been a dream of mine to work in this role, and I can’t think of a more exciting organisation to be a part of. I can’t wait to see the heights we can reach.”
Please join us in welcoming Simon Nicholson to the GUB team.
