It’s official – we have our first signed player for the upcoming WNBL season, with Jaz Shelley signing on the dotted line. Read more here.

NBL1 UPDATE:
Geelong United is pleased to announce Stockland as our official NBL1 Major Sponsor and Naming Rights partner for season 2024.
Under the partnership, Stockland will also help to bolster funding towards the team awards, facility management, customer service, referee retention and development, and first aid training.

BIG V YOUTH LEAGUE:
Our Big V teams had a well deserved weekend off over the Kings Birthday Long Weekend. Both squads are back at it this weekend though, with our Navexa Youth League 1 Men returning home to take on Bendigo this Sunday afternoon from midday at the Geelong Arena. Tickets available at the door – Get along and welcome our men back home!
Our Women’s squad is also in action, playing away in Albury Wodonga on Saturday afternoon from 3pm – Keep an eye on our socials for all the links you need to keep up with the live scores.
SUPER CAMPS ARE BACK:
Get ready for an exciting basketball extravaganza during the upcoming June/July school holidays of 2024, with Geelong United Basketball’s highly anticipated Super Camps!
Following a massive previous turnout, we’re getting ready for more school holiday basketball fun at AWA Alliance Bank Stadium!
And due to high demand, we’re bringing back our Girls Only Super Camp too!

STEP ABOVE SKILLS SESSIONS:
Take your game to the next level!
Geelong United Basketball’s Step Above Skills Sessions are all about stepping up your game and learning the skills that will help you get ahead of the pack.
Delivered by Simon Nicholson (GUB Coach & Athlete Development Manager), these sessions are for VJBL athletes and others wanting to improve their skills by attending one or both sessions. Each session will be focused on specific skills based development that will help all athletes better their game.

COACH DEVELOPMENT SESSIONS:
Another Coach Development Session has now been and gone, as NBL1 Men’s head coach Grant Wallace hosted “Basics In Developing A Half Court Man to Man Defence – GU NBL1 Men’s Rules In The Half Court” last Tuesday evening.
Five more sessions are left for the year, with the next coming up on Tuesday, July 2nd: “The 10 Best Drills When You Have Less Than 10 Players,” presented by NBL1 Women’s Head Coach, Jamie Petty.
Keep an eye out for registrations opening in the coming weeks.
And remember, these sessions are absolutely FREE!
GEELONG REFS AT THE NATIONAL JUNIOR CLASSIC:
Over the long weekend, we had a number of referees who were selected to officiate at the 2024 National Junior Classic.
Congratulations to Addison Van der Werf, Ashton Gould, Joel Saines, Jordan Peel, Joshua Dahdah, Kynan Parker, Lachie Appleford, Meg Hastie, Rod Bush (ref coach) and Emily Todorov on your selection.
Everyone performed extremely well over the weekend, with the following referees being appointed to medal matches:
Joshua Dahdah – U18 Boys Gold
Addison Van Der Werf – U16 Girls Gold
Kynan Parker – U16 Boys Bronze
Lachie Appleford – U16 Girls Bronze
Well done to everyone involved.
2024 GUB TOURNAMENT – KORR KORR NGITJI:
GUB will once again be holding a celebration of our sport by Coming Together (Waddawurrung: Korr Korr Ngitji) at a festival of basketball!
Now in its third year, the GUB Tournament will be held this coming November 4th-5th, across the six venues that host Geelong United’s community games each week.
Over the course of the weekend, teams will play a minimum of four games against other VJBL clubs, country associations and community teams from across the nation.
In addition to the tournament, GUB will also be holding several development clinics and courses directed at community and club coaching, score table officials, and referees.
