Geelong United Basketball (GUB) is pleased to announce the signing of Gemma Potter for the upcoming NBL1 South season commencing in March of 2025.
The 6 foot guard has made the decision to stay in Geelong following the current WNBL season, where she has proven to be a key scoring threat from beyond the arc.
Gemma spent her last NBL1 season with fellow NBL1 South team Diamond Valley, averaging 19 points, 3.67 assists and 6.87 rebounds per game, including an impressive 34 point outing against Ringwood.
With the signing of Gemma to the NBL1 program, this allows her and the team to continue establishing the link between VJBL, NBL1 and the WNBL for Geelong United – Something Gemma see’s as a high priority for aspiring talent, “The opportunity to establish the pathway for younger female athletes in the community is something that’s going to be quite prevalent through not only my, but the teams actions,” she said.
Five more of Gemma’s fellow WNBL teammates will join her as part of the 2025 NBL1 Women’s side including Jaz Shelley, Hannah Hank and Taylor Mole, with two more announcements still to come this Monday and Tuesday.
