Geelong United Basketball (GUB) is pleased to announce the signing of Megan Moody as women’s head coach for the upcoming 2025 NBL1 season.
Already serving as GUB’s GM of Pathways, Megan has played a key role in the development of the women’s program from junior level, all the way up to WNBL. Now as head coach of the women’s NBL1 side, Megan is looking to be even more hands on with the growth of our GUB players.
“I think it’s fantastic to have a pathway here now that young female athletes can aspire to be what they see,” Megan said. “The program will run as a whole, so we’ll have WNBL head coach Chris Lucas overseeing the NBL1 program. He’ll be involved in the training plans, the skill development sessions – It’s a fantastic opportunity for any player to work under a WNBL coach 12 months of the year.”
Previously as head coach of the Bendigo Braves women’s NBL1 side for 2 seasons from 2018-2019, Megan has a history of winning. Crowned Coach of the Year after her team went undefeated throughout the regular season in her first year at the helm and going on to win the championship that year, that’s the level of success she hopes to bring to our Geelong side.
“We’re all here because we love basketball,” said Megan. “I think I’m the lucky one that gets to sit in the head coach seat and I hope the players continue enjoying their basketball while I’m the coach of the team.”
