A gilt-edged opportunity to push for an all-important top-two finish on the Big V Youth League One men’s ladder presents itself for Navexa Geelong United this weekend.
United faces hosts Craigieburn (10th, 3-12) at Geelong Arena on Saturday night before travelling to Coburg (11th, 2-13) on Sunday.
With seventh-placed Bulleen (9-6) the only team outside the top six who can take the place of Luke Beard’s men wins over the Eagles and Giants will go close to making post-season action a certainty.
“We have been working hard to ensure our structures are in good shape as we enter the final rounds,” Coach Beard said.
“It’s important that we can stick to them when pressure is applied and get the ball through hands on our offensive sets.
“We will be looking to keep up the defensive pressure from last week and continually disrupt what the opposition is looking to do.”
Meanwhile, the Navexa Geelong United Youth League Women will be boosted by adding Vanessa Marsh, Phoebe Calvert and Georgia Cox for Saturday’s matchup with Craigieburn.
However, Cox won’t be available on Sunday for the trip to Coburg due to NBL1 commitments.
Both matches are an opportunity for Jason Bannerman’s roster to snap a month-long losing streak.
Tickets for Saturday night’s matchups with Craigieburn are available at the door. Card only.
