NBL1 WEEKEND WRAP:
Our NBL1 squads won 2 of 4 games across the weekend – Both sides fell short at the hands of Sandringham at home on Saturday night, but Sunday would prove to be a much better day.
On the road in Ringwood, it was a big win for our Women’s squad as Shaneice Swain stuffed the stat sheet with an impressive double double including a huge 30 point haul, Lasha Petree continued her scoring consistency with 22 points, and Sarah Elsworthy came agonisingly close to a triple double including a whopping 9 steals.
For the men, it was a tight back and forth contest all the way that, which would end in one of the most exciting finishes to any game so far this NBL1 South season – With scores level at 81 a piece in the dying seconds, DeMarcus Gatlin off a signature drive dished the ball out to an open Latrell Jones who sealed the win with a corner three.
Women:
Geelong 63 – Sandringham 71
Ringwood 64 – Geelong 81
Men:
Geelong 74 – Sandringham 85
Ringwood 81 – Geelong 84
We’re back at home this coming Saturday, as we take on Nunawading – Grab a ticket in our raffle for a chance to win a 2024 Geelong United team signed ball plus one of 2 travel accomodation vouchers.

COACH DEVELOPMENT SESSIONS:
It was another great turnout for our Coach Development Sessions last week as NBL1 Men’s head coach, Grant Wallace hosted the “Keys To Developing A Better Shooter” session – A lot of valuable information shared to help our local coaches guide our future superstars along on their basketball journey.
Next up, Grant Wallace is back as he hosts “Basics In Developing A Half Court Man to Man Defence – GU NBL1 Men’s Rules In The Half Court,” Tuesday, June 4
Remember, this session is absolutely FREE, so keep an eye out on our socials for a chance to reserve your spot.
