It was a big away double header for both sides across the weekend.
For the women, they’ve walked away with back to back wins over Mt Gambier and Eltham, and for the men it was a 50/50 split, winning against Mt Gambier and losing yesterday in Eltham.

BIG V YOUTH LEAGUE WEEKEND WRAP:
It was another big weekend of Big V Youth League action, with two away games for our teams, resulting in 2 big away wins.

Our next Coach Development Session is happening TOMORROW NIGHT, and NBL1 Men’s head coach Grant Wallace is back as he hosts “Basics In Developing A Half Court Man to Man Defence – GU NBL1 Men’s Rules In The Half Court.”

VJBL LASERQUEST UNITED TEAMS OF THE WEEK:
Another Friday has passed, with more VJBL action going on around the region.
The Laserquest United Teams Of The Week honours this week though go to the U14B5 team who were down 13 at the half but came back to win by 4 over Surf Coast (extending their streak to 7 straight wins), and the U18G1 squad who had a big 25 point win over Knox!

2024 GUB TOURNAMENT – KORR KORR NGITJI:
GUB will once again be holding a celebration of our sport by Coming Together (Waddawurrung: Korr Korr Ngitji) at a festival of basketball!
Now in its third year, the GUB Tournament will be held this coming November 4th-5th, across the six venues that host Geelong United’s community games each week.
Over the course of the weekend, teams will play a minimum of four games against other VJBL clubs, country associations and community teams from across the nation.
In addition to the tournament, GUB will also be holding several development clinics and courses directed at community and club coaching, score table officials, and referees.

FIJIAN MEN’S PLAYERS & WOMEN’S COACH VISIT GEELONG:
During the past two weeks, Geelong United Basketball (GUB) has played host to Fijian Men’s basketballers, Kennan Hughes and Filimone Waqabaca, as well as the national Fijian Women’s Head Coach (and Keenan’s father), Earl Hughes.
