Men’s import spot number two has officially been filled with the exciting addition of Kaelen Malone.
Signing on the dotted line for the upcoming 2025 season, Malone is ready to make an impact from day one, “I’m very excited to be joining Geelong United,” Kaelen said. “I canโt wait to get started, meet the team and all the fans.”
The 6 foot 1 point guard joins the squad after his latest stint with Sumqayit in the Azerbaijan ABL, where he averaged 17.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, 7.9 assists and 1.5 steals per game.
With a few offers on the table following his latest season in Europe, Kaelen saw Geelong United as an attractive choice, “Iโve heard nothing but good things about the club” he said. “I’m very excited and grateful for the opportunity.”
Head Coach Grant Wallace see’s Kaelen as a fantastic leadership piece for the group, “Kaelen’s back court leadership is going to be a great asset,” Grant said. “He’s a well experienced, strong body with the ability to lead with the ball in hand, paired with his flexibility to score which will work very well within our structure.”
As for the road ahead, Kaelen is looking for the same thing any player would want – A championship. Can this team be the one to do it? Either way, “Itโs going to be a great season ahead,” says Kaelen.
