Three of our Big V teams hit the court this weekend, with our Navexa Division 2 Women getting a bye week before the final season push. Check out how our other three teams went below!
NAVEXA DIVISION 1 MEN
A chippy back and forth game has seen our Men take an important away game to keep their head above water in a top 5 spot of the Division 1 Men ladder. A shaky first half offensively saw our Men take a 1-point lead into the main, managing just 35 points, a season-low for the team. The third quarter was much of the same as the men let a 4-point deficit build heading into the final 10 minutes. Despite a poor offensive game the Men backed themselves in on the defensive end and dug in holding Warrandyte to just 21 while veterans Michael Rebula (Vytis) and Marc Goodwin (CC Eagles) steadied and forced the offence into a 29-point winning quarter. A massive rebound in the dying seconds from big man Lachlan Headlam all but secured the important win.
The men are sitting 2 games behind a top 4 spot as they look to next weekβs away game against the struggling Collingwood All-Stars.

NAVEXA YOUTH LEAGUE 1 MEN
Our Youth League Men have picked up an impressive overtime win in Wyndham on Saturday night in a great all-around team effort. Taking a 3-point lead into the half, the men battled hard in the third quarter to extend their lead to 12 heading into the final 10 minutes. While doing a great job of defending Darrien Herbert who was on fire in their last meeting, it was Jacob Borg who lit up the scoreboard for 20 points, as the Devils managed a 12-point turnaround to force the game into OT.
With an additional 5 minutes on the clock Matthew Jennings (CC Eagles) went straight to work scoring 7 points in the first 3 minutes to all but secure the 94-85 win. The team will now look to this Saturdayβs home game as they try for some revenge on the Warrandyte Venom.

NAVEXA YOUTH LEAGUE 1 WOMEN
Heading to Pakenham very short-handed, and without head coach Mitchell Stoop, the team battled hard and was able to build up a 5-point lead heading into the half, 39-34. A back and forth final 20 minutes saw the lead switch multiple times with Geelong having multiple chances to take the lead in the final minutes of the game. It was not meant to be however as a Vanessa Marsh steal in the final 5 seconds couldnβt be converted into a good look, leaving the girls on the wrong side of the scoreboard by 3 points.
Still a chance to be playing finals basketball, the girls will look to next weekendβs double header where they take on Warrandyte away before a rematch with Pakenham on Sunday at home.
